Another Day, Another Battle

I'm still here and still working on the campaign to save the valley. We are only one of many campaigns that currently seem to have ongoing battles.  I have no idea what is happening in this country. There are Coal Seam Gas issues and good people out protesting and speaking out to save their land and saving underground water from contamination.  We're trying to save this area from a ridiculous change of zoning that will see this pristine valley surrounded by world heritage listed mountains change forever. Have all the politicians lost the plot? Do any politicians with scruples and morals exist? Does anyone accept any responsibility or accountability any more?  Where is common sense?  What ever happened to good government? I have lost confidence in our system - it's failing. Corruption is rife and these so-called public servants are hardly serving us. They are however very much self-serving. It's a disgrace. That good people are forced to take time from work to protest, campaign, demand, seek and virtually do the jobs which aren't being done by the very people employed to ensure logical, fair and common sense outcomes - who are these lazy, unaccountable people?  In my neck of the woods, the world is a very "rotten" place at the moment. I hope it's a little better in your part of the world. Maybe when all this is over, I can return to some good old fashioned cooking. In the meantime you can visit our website: http://www.savenuminbahvalley.com/  Like us on facebook if you can; it all helps.

    1. Hello there you beautiful mother. I can't believe you've taken the time to come visit me with all that is on your plate at the present time. How is your precious new baby girl going - I hope you've managed some decent sleep through the new life changing schedule. And thanks for the encouragement Brydie. It's nice to receive, for if we were to be fuelling ourselves on encouragement, we'd have folded long ago. Not many people happy with us taking a stand. But that's too bad - we have a moral and a forward thinking conscience and this keeps driving us. Mariana xxx

  2. Hi Mariana. Its been a long time since I visited but how apt. I agree with you 100%. We still have our ongoing battle with the Multisport park (read trail bikes , 4 X 4, tuff trucks etc ripping up our quiet little valley. Can no where be safe from mans greed ? I do not want to dwell on this so will take a little time tonight to read back on all of your posts that I have missed. Boy I've missed reading "through your kitchen window" :-) Not enough hours in my day at present. I do hope you have been keeping well....but will find out your news :-)

In the words of Monty Python......When life seems jolly rotten, theres something you've forgotten...............etc, ...so always look on the bright side of life ta da ta da ta da ta da :-)

    1. Linda - what on earth is going on up there near you. I want to know! Is this type of activity ripping up your quiet little valley too - I don't believe it! "Ripping up" is certainly one way of describing it. Here were have this beautiful Good Quality Agricultural Land (of which there is not much) and it's been subjected to the most horrendous use possible. Our land here is designated high "slip" and with all the rain of late, we've actually had quite a bit of slip on one of our hills. The quads run only 100 metres from this very area; who knows what impact all the erosion they have caused is making. To top if off, they have brought in outside gravel to fill the deep grooves they've created - can you imagine - gravel on this top quality soil. It's a total disgrace! And as you say, all for mans greed - though they would justify it as saying "we need to make a living since dairying is no longer viable". To that I say; "if you are not going to use good quality agricultural land for rural purposes, then sell up to someone who will! Turning into a sports theme park is not acceptable and unlawful". And yes, they are running an unlawful business! I could go on. You have aroused my curiosity big time Linda. Make sure you get back and let me know what's going on in your neck of the woods......please!! Mariana

    2. So nice to catch up with you Linda. My first phone call with a fellow blogger. Wow. Good luck with your battle - it helps to know we're not alone in trying to protect and preserve small rural communities in beautiful valleys. Fancy such similarities between us both. Wishing your group all the best and I'll be sure to stay tuned and see how things are going with you up there on the Sunshine Coast. All the best. Mariana xxxxxxxxx
